Celtic are interested in signing Aberdeen captain Graeme Shinnie this summer, according to the Bristol Post.
It is well documented that Shinnie’s contract at Pittodrie is due to expire in July, meaning he will be a free agent in just a few months’ time.
And club’s both north and south of the border have been linked with a bargain move for one of the Scottish Premiership’s most influential players.
The Post claims that Bristol City want to give Shinnie the chance to play in England for the first time while Rangers want to bring the 27-year-old to Ibrox.
It is just two years since they signed another Aberdeen captain on a free in Ryan Jack.
But it is believed that Celtic are also in the race to sign a player who would provide added depth both in defensive midfield and at left-back.
Five-time Scotland international Shinnie could be a solid addition on a free for a Celtic side who have history when it comes to raiding their top flight rivals for key players. In the summer of 2017, they signed Jonny Hayes from Derek McInnes’ side and it seems they will now look to repeat the feat.
