Leeds United chairman breaks silence after play-off defeat to Derby County

The Rams defeated their old rivals to book their place in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium later this month

Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani has broken his silence following the loss to Derby County in the Championship play-off semi-final.

The Rams went into the second leg clash at Elland Road on Wednesday night trailing 1-0 from the first leg, and managed to secure a 4-2 victory on the night, winning 4-3 on aggregate.

A brace from substitute Jack Marriott, supported by second half goals from Mason Mount and Harry Wilson from the penalty spot, saw the Rams claim a memorable win over their old rivals.

Frank Lampard’s men will march to the national stadium on Monday, May 27, and take on Aston Villa for a place in the Premier League.

 

Leeds topped the Championship at Christmas, but fell out of the automatic promotion race when they ended the season with five defeats in their final nine league games.

Radrizzani took to Twitter on Thursday morning to express his appreciation to the Leeds fans, adding that they will “come back stronger”.

“We don’t stop to believe,” Radrizzani tweeted.

“We work harder to build a modern and successful club #MOT thank for the amazing support to to the fans and thank to players, coaches, management and everyone involved at the club for the commitment shown all season, we will be back stronger.”
