Sheffield Wednesday set to lose defender to Championship Rivals

The Yorkshire Post have reported that Sheffield Wednesday look set to lose full-back Jack Hunt to Bristol City today for a fee of around £1.6 million.

Hunt began his career in Huddersfield Town’s academy and made 104 appearances during his time with the Terriers before moving on to Crystal Palace and eventually Sheffield Wednesday.

The right-back found opportunities limited with Crystal Palace and subsequently left the club on several loan spells, moving to Barnsley, Nottingham Forest, Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday on loan spells during his time with Palace.

In 2016, the defender decided to make a permanent switch to Hillsborough and went on to make a total of 96 appearances for the South-Yorkshire, impressing during his time with the Championship side.

Bristol City have been very busy in the transfer window so far and are looking to improve their squad at present. The Robins have lost a number of key players over recent weeks including the likes of Bobby Reid and Aden Flint and look keen to bring in some recruits over the coming weeks with Hunt being one of several recent signings.

The Robins have brought in several players this week and have been splashing around the cash following the big money departures of Flint and Reid on the likes of Andreas Weimann and Adam Webster during the past couple of days.

Hunt will offer the club cover at right-back ahead of the new season and the defender’s pace and work-ethic will be a welcome addition in the full-back department at Ashton Gate ahead of the new campaign.
