Norwich City are in talks with midfielder, Todd Cantwell over a new contract, according to the Eastern Daily Press.
The Canaries are though to want to tie the exciting young prospect down to a new deal until 2020, but negotiations are proving difficult.
However, it is expected that Cantwell is set to sign a new short-term deal with the club in the near future, as they look to secure his future at Carrow Road.
Cantwell has been impressive in his breakthrough season with Daniel Farke’s side, and has made 20 appearances in total for a Norwich side that have emerged as surprise promotion contenders this season.
The Canaries are currently sat 2nd in the Championship table, and will be hoping they can retain their place in the top two until the end of the season, with promotion a serious possibility now.
Cantwell’s rise through the academy has been impressive and he’ll be keen to build on some excellent performances for the promotion chasing sides.
He has been with the club since he was nine-years-old, and he went on to sign a professional deal with the Canaries when he turned 18.
But his impressive showings this season have prompted calls for Cantwell to be awarded a new deal, with his current deal expiring in the summer.
They will need to have his future resolved in the near future, to avoid losing him for free at the end of this season, with a number of clubs likely to be interested.
