Kasper Schmeichel’s father claims son has desire to leave

Kasper Schmeichel’s father Peter has claimed his son wants to move away from Leicester City to a ‘bigger club’:

Firstly, Foxes of Leicester won’t criticise Peter Schmeichel for suggesting his son wants the best for his career and be at a top club eventually. That’s fair enough, and anyone would wish for the same. Even if it means Leicester City lose Kasper Schmeichel.

Although, to suggest Leicester – as recent champions, along with having European aspirations and being sufferers of tremendous emotional upheaval this season – is only a mediocre club, even when getting the desired results, is slightly unfair.

The scenario from which our theory developed came following Schmeichel the elder’s current views on his son’s status as first choice Foxes goalkeeper. Of course as arguably the greatest ‘keeper of all time, the former Manchester United stopper is entitled to his opinion. Not to mention wanting Kasper content and happy, as a father.

Schmeichel senior was appearing on beIN Sports as a pundit when he made the slightly condescending assertion about the club as a whole – by alleging Leicester City doesn’t have its act together – and giving a telling statement on his son Kasper’s future:

Peter Schmeichel has made some very interesting comments about his son’s future at #LCFC.

“Of course he wants to move away and try something bigger and challenge himself like any other player. On the other hand, once Leicester get their act together, it’s actually not a bad club.”

To be absolutely frank, if you’re hoping Kasper will remain a Fox when the summer transfer window ends, this is a huge indication you will be disappointed. Yet, Peter also said Claude Puel isn’t the right boss to get the best from the team; leading us to also consider if the Frenchman departs, will the ‘goalie’ stay?

Is Danny Ward good enough to step into The Dane’s shoes? Possibly. The Welshman certainly did himself no harm in the Carabao Cup, though Newport County wasn’t his finest hour-and-a-half. While the Blue Army are aware he is master penalty saver.
