RANGERS boss Steven Gerrard has implored Liverpool to give them Leeds United target Ryan Kent for another season.
The Liverpool legend has taken them back into contention for the Scottish Premiership, although the strength in depth at Celtic has meant that overcoming their rivals has been near-impossible.
One man that has been vital to their season has been Kent, who is on loan from Liverpool this season as Gerrard uses his connections at his former club.
The 22-year-old has scored six and assisted nine during his time at Ibrox, and the Gers boss is keen on keeping hold of him for another season.
“I don’t even know if Liverpool want to sell him or not.
“The only question I can answer on Ryan Kent is, ‘Do I want him back next year?’ – and the answer to that question is, ‘Yes, more than anyone’.”
That final quip may come as a dig at Leeds, who are also tracking the Oldham-born midfielder.
The Argentinean is locked in a promotion battle with Sheffield United and Norwich, and any transfer business will be directly affected by what happens this season.
Their transfer hopes will take a major boost if they reach the Premier League but a shock loss to Wigan on Friday saw them slip to third in the Championship.
