According to a report in Le10 Sport,Norwich City have made an enquiry for Rennes player Mehdi Zeffane while it is also cited how contract talks could follow.
Norwich secured promotion to the Premier League at the weekend after a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
Manager Daniel Farke will now be looking at areas to improve ahead of the Premier League campaign, but it has been suggested the Canaries won’t have a huge budget to work with.
Norwich’s promotion to the top flight was largely built on some excellent recruitment of cheap players and the introduction of academy stars Ben Godfrey, Jamal Lewis and outstanding right-back Max Aarons.
The Championship’s leading scorer Teemu Pukki was a free transfer signing last summer, and Norwich could be eyeing similar success with Zeffane who is out of contract at Rennes at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old hasn’t featured too regularly for Rennes this season, making just 13 starts in the French top flight and a further six appearances in the Europa League.
Zeffane is predominantly a right-back, yet he has featured more times at left-back this season while he has also made a few appearances as a right-sided midfielder, scoring one goal in the league.
Capped by the Algeria national side, Zeffane is experienced at the top level and could offer Norwich cover in several positions next season should the Norfolk side manage to bring him in this summer.
