La Liga side make contact with Spurs over £18.6m player

Vincent Janssen returned from the Tottenham Hotspur wilderness when he came off the bench for the last ten minutes of the Premier League match against Brighton late last month

The Dutchman’s appearance was the first for Spurs in any competition since coming on as a 91st-minute sub against Chelsea, 20th August 2017, a massive 611 days ago.

Since then, he also featured in the 1-0 defeat against West Ham United at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and almost became the hero in the dying moments when he saw his header cleared off the Hammers goal line.

Reports in Spain are suggesting that Real Betis have made contact with Spurs officials about the possibility of taking him to La Liga.

Estadio Deportivo report that Betis are still wary about the fact that the striker has experienced limited match action in recent times.

The 24-year-old is out of contract in North London in the summer of 2020 and the upcoming transfer window could represent the best possible option for Daniel Levy to get some return on the £18.6million they paid AZ Alkmaar for his services back in 2016.  (Sky Sports)

After missing the Champions League defeat to Ajax, Janssen is expected to be named in the Spurs squad which faces Bournemouth in the Premier League on the south coast tomorrow lunchtime.

  1. If only Janssen could have scored against Palace when he first joined Tottenham… he would have been a goal machine for us
