Hearts could be without three key men for next weekend’s Scottish Cup final clash against Celtic.
The Daily Express reports that Jambos boss Craig Levein has expressed doubt over the health of Uche Ikpeazu, Arnaud Djoum and Peter Haring. The trio will likely sit out Sunday’s match at Celtic Park while they face a race against time to be fit for the showpiece clash at Hampden a week later.
Celtic don’t have their injury worries to seek either. Captain Scott Brown is the latest Hoops man to have a question mark put next to his name after suffering a foot injury.
A big boost to Celtic
While it’s never nice to see any player miss a big occasion like a cup final, Celtic’s chances will improve greatly if the Jambos men are ruled out.
In the absence of Steven Naismith, Ikpeazu has to be seen as the biggest threat for the Hoops defence. The big, robust centre forward has proven himself to be a handful for any backline so far this season. He may only have netted eight goals for Hearts but five of them have been in the cup competitions.
For a quiet afternoon Celtic will want everything to be as calm as possible at Hampden. The big forward is unsettling and would make things a bit chaotic in that area of the pitch. For our chances, it would be better if he wasn’t able to make the game.
