According to a report from Football.London, Tottenham are willing to offer Christian Eriksen up to £200,000 per week to keep him at the club, but the Dane’s heart is still set on a move away to Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old joined Spurs from Ajax in the summer of 2013, for a fee believed to be worth £11.5 million according to BBC Sport, and he has since gone on to rack up 66 goals and 86 assists in 277 appearances in all competitions for the north London club.
The talented midfield playmaker is one of Tottenham’s most important players, so losing him will be a real blow for Mauricio Pochettino, but he might have little choice in the matter, with just 12 month’s remaining on the Denmark international’s current deal.
Football.London claims that Spurs have not totally given up hope of tying Eriksen down to a new contract, however, and are prepared to offer him a deal that would put him up alongside Harry Kane on £200,000 per week.
Kane signed a new deal with Tottenham last summer worth £10.4 million per year, according to the Sun, and it could be argued that Eriksen is well worth that money.
Joining Real Madrid would be a dream move for the Spurs ace, however, and nobody could blame him if he gets the chance of moving to the Bernabeu.
