Some slightly out of the blue claims have emerged from Brazil today, with it being reported in South America that Newcastle are preparing a move for Vasco de Gama forward ‘Marrony’.
It’s said that the 20-year-old – who often operates as a winger but can also play up top – has been closely watched by Newcastle’s head of recruitment Steve Nickson, and Globo Esporte are now reporting that we’re preparing a formal offer to sign him.
The following tweet has also been shared by Vasco da Gama news page @NCB_VASCO, which translates to: “ABOUT TO LEAVE? Striker Marrony is being watched and has interest from Newcastle in England. A proposal should arrive in the coming days. Marrony has a €35m release clause, but due to Vasco’s current conditions, it should be negotiated to a lower amount.”
DE SAÍDA? O atacante Marrony está sendo observado e desperta interesse do Newcastle, da Inglaterra. Uma proposta deve chegar nos próximos dias.

His current release clause is around the £30m mark – a fee we’re never going to pay for an unproven youngster – however Globo Esporte claim that he could make the move to Tyneside for a significantly lower fee, with his current club struggling with a few financial issues.
