The Blades were beaten for the first time in seven matches as Newcastle United won 2-0 at Bramall Lane.
The game wasn’t without controversy, however. Jonjo Shelvey’s goal was given despite the assistant referee flagging for offside. VAR replays showed the Newcastle man to be onside and the goal was awarded.
The Blades have made a flying start to their season back in the Premier League, however, and 10th is still positive.
Next up for Chris Wilder’s men is a trip to lowly Norwich City and he will hope his side can return to winning ways sharpish.
A below-par performance made it difficult to select a Man of the Match from a Blades perspective last night.
John Lundstram was given the official award inside the stadium and that caused a bit of a stir among supporters.
The ex-Everton trainee has been fantastic this season but it’s fair to say that not many of the club’s fans felt obliged to agree with last night’s decision.
Here is a selection of tweets from Sheffield United supporters regarding his showing against Newcastle:
Lunny was poor, not on his own though

worse game Lunny has had for ages looked lethargic and leggy… i sometimes wonder… Stevens was the stand out for me… but their keeper wins it easy…
