Speaking to Football Insider, former England striker Kevin Phillips explained that Steven Gerrard might find it hard to refuse if Premier League clubs come calling in the future.
However, Philips is adamant that, considering Gerrard’s past show of loyalty to his former club Liverpool, the Rangers manager will honour his contract.
Gerrard still has four years left on the contract that he signed last December. When asked upon whether Steven Gerrard will stay for the duration of his contract in Glasgow or leave for Premier League, Philips replied:
Unless someone comes in from England, depending on what side, I do not see why not.
I think for the time being Steven is still learning and doing a fantastic job.
I see him staying. He is an honourable man, he spent his entire career at Liverpool despite numerous opportunities to move so I would not be surprised if he honoured his contract.
He is saying all of the right things but you never know in football.
Any Premier League club that loses their manager will look at Steven. They will look at what a good job Steven has done and their offer might be too hard to turn down.
