Newcastle are finding it hard to tie their promising player Matty Longstaff to a new deal and might lose him for just £400,000.
Matty Longstaff came to prominence when he scored the winning goal for Newcastle in his Premier League debut against Manchester United in October. However, despiting a promising start to his Premier League career, the contract extension talks haven’t progressed as expected. His current contract expires in June, which means that the 20-year-old midfielder will be free to talk to other teams
While Newcastle want to keep hold of one their promising talent but if things don’t go according to plan they might lose him for just £400,000, which is the compensation fee.
According to Football Insider, a number of European clubs are keeping tabs on Longstaff’s contract situation. One of the clubs who are showing special interest is the Premier League rivals, Everton.
